Following her husband’s acquisition by the Mumbai Indians in the 2025 IPL auction, Jaya Bhardwaj paid a moving homage to the Chennai Super Kings and expressed her appreciation for the moments she had with the team.
New Delhi: Jaya Bharadwaj, the wife of India bowler Deepak Chahar, penned an emotional email to her husband’s former IPL team, the Chennai Super Kings (CSK), expressing her concerns. Deepak Chahar was acquired by the Mumbai Indians (MI) on Monday, November 25, at the IPL 2025 Mega Auction.

After joining the CSK team in 2018, Deepak remained a vital member till the 2024 campaign. In addition to playing 76 games for the squad and taking the same number of wickets, the 32-year-old pacer was instrumental in the team’s 2018–2021–2023 championship wins.
After a game against the Punjab Kings in 2021, Deepak proposed to Jaya Bhardwaj, his current wife, in the Dubai stands. Jaya sent an emotional tribute for CSK on Instagram on Monday, sharing her thoughts and feelings:
“From applauding in the stands to declaring love in front of the entire audience on the field after I said “yes.” This squad will always hold a special place in my heart. I will always be appreciative of the amazing moments had in Chennai.
In the meanwhile, on June 1, 2022, the pair was married.
At the 2025 super auction, the Mumbai Indians, five-time IPL champions, paid ₹9.25 crore to acquire Rajasthan bowler Deepak Chahar.
In his 81 IPL appearances, the 32-year-old has taken 77 wickets. Additionally, he played for India in 13 ODI and 25 T20I matches, taking 16 and 31 wickets, respectively.
